The year in regenerative agriculture and food investing may have felt slow to this point, but RFSI’s Q1 deal tracking tells a more nuanced story. In Q1 (January-March, 2026), RFSI tracked 34 regenerative agriculture and food investments totaling more than $458 million. This represents fewer deals than in each quarter of last year, however, the total deal value outpaced the last three quarters of 2025.
Additional highlights from Q1 2026 deal tracking include:
Venture deals led by deal count, accounting for 48% of all tracked transactions, followed by equity deals – including acquisitions – at 14%.
Biologicals and other regenerative inputs were the leading investment theme, representing 38% of deals by count, followed by other regenerative ag enabling technologies at 21%.
By total deal value, food brands emerged as the standout category in Q1. While they represented just 12% of deals by account, they accounted for more than 63% of tracked deals by value.
The U.S. led all regions, representing 43% of tracked deals, followed by Europe at 29%.
Among deals that disclosed investment amounts, more than half fell into the $2 million – $15 million range.
RFSI also tracked activity across funds and investment vehicles during the quarter. We found:
More than $211 million was raised across four fund closes, including a $52 million close for Conservation Resources’ second farmland fund and a $48 million first close for Aqua-Spark’s new Africa-focused aquaculture fund.
Six new funding and investment vehicles launched in Q1, including Lucerne Capital’s regenerative farmland vehicle targeting $500 million and The Rockefeller Foundation and Builders Vision’s $10 million Food is Medicine Impact Fund, hosted by RF Catalytic Capital, Inc.
