Rodale Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to growing the organic movement through rigorous research, farmer training, and consumer education. Widely considered the global leader in regenerative organic agriculture, Rodale Institute has been putting science behind the best practices in organic farming for more than 70 years.

With over 25 active research projects across 7 locations, Rodale Institute is helping farmers be successful without synthetic inputs while focusing on mitigating climate change and growing nutrient-dense foods. Rodale Institute’s Farming Systems Trial is the longest running side-by-side comparison of organic vs. conventional agriculture in North America. Other research projects include the Vegetable Systems Trial, the Watershed Impact Trial and the Industrial Hemp Trial.

Every year, Rodale Institute welcomes dozens of beginning farmers to our campuses to train for careers in organic agriculture. Additionally, Rodale Institute has a Virtual Campus that hosts digital courses on topics such as Transitioning to Organic and Hobby Beekeeping. Rodale Institute also hosts webinars, workshops, tours and events that reach more than 20,000 people annually.

Launched in 2019, Rodale Institute’s Organic Crop Consulting Program offers one-on-one mentorship for farmers interested in transitioning to organic. Our trained agronomists empower farmers with personalized crop plans, equipment recommendations and soil sampling analysis and assist with certification preparation. In the program’s first year, our consultants worked with roughly 150 farmers to transition over 12,000 acres to organic management.

Rodale Institute is also a leader in consumer food systems education. Rodale Institute has taken a leadership role in developing the Regenerative Organic Certification, a new high-bar food and fiber label that includes requirements for soil health, animal welfare, and farm worker fairness.

Rodale Institute is committed to healing people and the planet through regenerative organic agriculture. Join us. Because the future is organic.
