Steve Apfelbaum, the founder of Applied Ecological Services in Brodhead, WI, has been a full-time research and consulting ecologist with AES since 1978 when he founded the company and in 2021 merged with Resource Environmental Solutions (RES). Steve has conducted ecological research projects in most biomes of North America, and since the early 1980s he has been one of the leading consultants in the U.S. in ecological restoration programs. Apfelbaum is trained as an animal and plant ecologist with graduate studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign where he earned his MS Degree in Ecological and Biological Sciences in 1978. He has been a scientist in hundreds of field ecological projects and data analysis projects.

Jason Aramburu is the founder and CEO of Climate Robotics, a developer of tractor-mounted implements to produce biochar from agricultural residues. He has been an established business leader and technology developer in the biochar industry for over 15 years. Jason previously founded re:char, a Gates-foundation funded nonprofit focused on training farmers in the developing world to produce and utilize biochar. He is an Ashoka Fellow, Echoing Green Fellow and was named a Forbes 30 under 30 social entrepreneur. He has also served as a Director at Baidu, the largest AI and robotics company in the world. He holds a degree in Ecology and Environmental Science from Princeton University.

Gina is on the board of directors for the National Young Farmers Coalition and an advisory board member for Land to Market, Regen Rising and the UC Berkeley Haas Center for Responsible Business

Brian P. Dawson is a Partner and co-founder of Biome Capital Partners, an investment fund deploying capital to accelerate the transition from conventional to regenerative agriculture. Most recently, Brian was co-founder and CEO of HarvestPort, a venture-backed AgTech marketplace with a mission to improve the economic and environmental outcomes of commercial farming operations. Brian began his career in agriculture by co-founding Palogix, which became the largest supplier of bulk harvesting, transport, and storage containers and logistics services to fruit, vegetable, and nut producers in North America. Prior, Mr. Dawson co-founded PetroCal Inc. (exited via IPO), a technology company focused on increasing the production of mature oil and gas fields. Brian is also a co-founder of Fifth Season Ventures (FSV), an impact investment fund focused on the food and agricultural supply chain. At FSV, he led the seed investment round and served as Executive Chairman of Full Cycle Bioplastics, a circular economy startup that converts organic waste into biodegradable plastic. Building off her career as a commercial farmer, Extension specialist and industry sustainability expert, she designs strategies for agricultural systems change. Vayda develops regional hubs that recognize the landscape, markets, and cultures to unlock the potential for agriculture to be a force for good for people and planet. Ms. Deelo has sector expertise in North American dairy, grains and oilseeds, and organic and regenerative agriculture. Her graduate school training in International Agricultural Development from the University of California-Davis shapes her approach to sustainability for global markets.

Zach Ducheneaux, Executive Director of the Intertribal Agriculture Council, is part of the third generation to operate the family ranch on the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation in north central South Dakota. That generation is now working with the fourth generation on the same ranch. Zach served as a tribal council representative for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe from 2000 to 2004 and became the Tribe’s delegate to the IAC, and secretary of the board, a role he is honored to have filled. However, Zach’s connection to the IAC spans nearly 25 years, as his first professional employment was with the organization as a Farm Advocate from 1994-1997; in this role, he assisted producers who found themselves victim to the circumstances of the Keepseagle lawsuit following the fallout of the Farm Crisis. “During that time I learned about the passion that drove those within the IAC for agriculture as an economic development tool, and that there were folks out there trying to improve Reservation economies through Agriculture.” Zach goes on, “I learned that there was a bigger picture behind what I had the good fortune of growing up doing, and that it was possible to have an impact on those matters for the benefit of all of Indian Country.” This bigger picture approach has focused a significant amount of Zach’s current work around a reinvention of Ag Finance to better serve Indian Country; shedding light on the investment potential that is offered through more thoughtfully structured Sustainability Finance. Since 2010, Zach has been working full-time for the IAC, and along with his work on the TA Network, and ag policy initiatives, He works to further educate himself, and others about the critical role of improved food systems, value-added agriculture, and foreign exports in any successful economic development model in Indian Country.

Paul Greive is the founder of Pasturebird, the largest daily-move pastured poultry producer in the world. After contracting Lyme disease in the backwoods of Virginia during sniper school, his family went on a health journey and became disenchanted with the poultry options in the grocery store. Pasturebird's solar powered, autonomous, and floorless mobile coop moves 6,000 birds to fresh pasture every 24 hours, allowing for large scale integration with row crops, hay fields, cover crops, and more. Her research aims to address how climate change and management practices influence plant-microbial interactions, soil health, and carbon sequestration. She co-founded Cquester Analytics after realizing the critical need for an analytical facility applying state-of-the-art science-based methods and rigor to enable the adoption of soil organic matter regenerative practices and to accurately verify soil carbon sequestration at scale. Lauren Manning, Esq., LL.M., is an attorney, law professor, and farmer. Before her current role, Lauren was a venture capital investor with food and ag-focused VC firm AgFunder. Lauren began with AgFunder in 2015 as part of AgFunderNews media and research team reporting on issues involving finance, agriculture, climate change, and more. From 2019 to 2021, Lauren supported the Sacred Cow documentary and book project discussing the nutritional, environmental, and ethical case for (better) meat production. At the University of Arkansas, Lauren serves as an adjunct law professor across multiple departments teaching courses on farm animal welfare, food safety, farm succession planning, agricultural cooperatives and local food systems, and more. They also implement McCain’s 2025 sustainability goals related to agriculture: 100% of farmers implementing regenerative practices, 25% reduction in farming CO2 emissions intensity, 15% improvement in irrigation water use efficiency in water-stressed regions, and the launch of three Farms of the Future. She has worked at the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, Ecologic Institute, New York City Mayor’s Office of Sustainability, Booz & Company, Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), and Anheuser-Busch. In 2020, Jenny developed and published a national landscape analysis of the barriers for ranchers and farmers to transition to regenerative agriculture in the US, alongside Patagonia. She also supported the SAFSF special project and roadmap on US fiber systems, led by Sarah Kelley. Jenny now serves as the Executive Director of FORA, Funders For Regenerative Ag, as well as continuing to oversee the work of Guidelight.

Esther is the CEO of Cienega Capital, a regenerative investment firm utilizing an integrated capital approach to systemic change in the areas of soil health, regenerative agriculture, and local food systems. Cienega Capital is also part of the #NoRegrets Initiative, a regenerative asset strategy focused on the health of agricultural soils and agricultural communities in North America. Esther has over 20 years of experience in mission-based financial services ranging from microfinance to risk capital investments, in partnership with financial institutions, family offices, foundations, and investment advisors. She is also a faculty member of the Just Economy Institute.

Rex Raimond has more than 20 years of experience developing strategy and building effective partnerships for sustainable and equitable food systems. He applies his partnership-building skills to help build a movement among concessional, impact and commercial investors, companies, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to increase investing in principles-aligned food system businesses that are economically viable and deliver sustainable impact. Rex has worked on many aspects of food and agricultural systems transformation, including sustainable finance, crop insurance and agricultural policy, market incentives for soil health practices, sustainable supply chains, food safety, science and emerging technologies, sustainable landscape planning, and climate change. Rex is a multi-lingual, international environmental lawyer. Prior to joining the TIFS Initiative, he built partnerships at Meridian Institute, practiced environmental and land-use law in the Netherlands, and supported rural development projects in Zimbabwe. He lives in Colorado, USA with his wife and three children. He has lived in the Netherlands, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Zimbabwe.

Adrian is a Managing Director of Provenance Capital Group where he raises capital for regenerative businesses and funds. Previously, he worked at Patagonia within its Venture Capital arm Tin Shed Ventures, helping author a standard for Regenerative Organic Agriculture and making regenerative investments. Adrian spent six years at Morgan Stanley helping investors manage their asset allocations. Adrian is a graduate of Berkeley Haas’ full-time MBA program. He received a B.A. in English from Williams College and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Eric was previously with SJF Ventures and worked for BlackRock on climate finance, in addition to providing advisory services to forest carbon and other natural resource management projects. He received his MBA and Master of Forestry from Duke and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica.

Chris holds an MBA from Boston University and a BFA in Furniture Design from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD).

Tripp Wall is an entrepreneur, investor, fiduciary, and is a Managing Partner at Trailhead Capital. Prior to becoming a partner at Trailhead, Tripp worked at Alliance Bernstein for over a decade helping to source and manage alternative investments for the firm’s private wealth platform. Tripp was also a member of an investment group that acquired Alfalfa’s Market in Boulder, CO, where he also served at one point as CEO.
